MyPhotoZip Puts the Squeeze on Digital Images; Compression Ratios
of Up to 1,000:1 Break the Barriers to Speedy Transmission
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2002-- Responding
to questions received from customers and to highlight the unique
capabilities of MyPhotoZip(TM) (MPZ) technology, David J. Panaia,
CEO of eCom eCom, Inc. (OTCBB:ECEC), today provided a simplified,
non-technical description of the MPZ process. MPZ is a solution
for the home computer user. eCom eCom is dedicating its efforts
to the new technology because it is viewed by the company as the
foundation for building an extensive line of MPZ products.
"It really is a quantum leap in image compression,"
said Panaia. "I challenge anyone to find another product
on the market that can match the dynamic performance of MPZ. Images
gobble up your disk space. Using MPZ, a photo with a file size
of 12,000,000 bytes (12MB) can be compressed to as little as 12,000
bytes (12KB) and viewed with little or no loss of quality! Then
the reduced image can be restored back to its original file size
using the mathematical fingerprints embedded in .mpz format.
"The benefits of this technology are enormous," added
Panaia. "Obviously, digital photographers can save on disk
space. An entire album can be stored on a 1.44 MB floppy disk
instead of burning up 144 MB of hard drive. However, I believe
that the greatest advantage of MyPhotoZip(TM) is its incredible
ability to accelerate transmission speeds. Images are transmitted
while they're tiny. Typically, a 12 MB image in TIFF format can
take over 28 minutes to transmit through a 56K modem. Using .mpz
format, the same image will stream through that same modem in
about 30 seconds!"
MyPhotoZip(TM), which targets the rapidly growing digital photography
market, is the first in a series of products to be developed using
MPZ technology. Priced at $39.95 with a money-back guarantee,
MyPhotoZip(TM) is now available for download at http://www.myphotozip.com.
